Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth to the adjacent natural teeth. It is an alternative method to Implants. If you have a missing tooth, a Bridge can help to restore your smile. Our Crowns and Bridges are made of porcelain or porcelain bonded to metal. If you have a cracked, damaged or broken tooth, you may need a Crown. A Crown is an artificial tooth. It may be fitted over a prepared existing tooth, or it may, with the help of an Implant, replace a tooth. The materials used are porcelain or porcelain bonded to dental gold alloy. The laboratory we use is Australian-owned and operated. At the Smile Spot, dentists use the E4D CAD/CAM system to create Crowns in one visit where desired.

Implants replace missing teeth. They are placed in the gums and fill up the space created after a tooth is lost. They look and feel like natural teeth.

There are several reasons why a tooth may need to be removed: extensive damage (via decay or trauma), periodontal (gum) disease, to prevent complications (eg via infection), to improve appearance (as part of orthodontic treatment), it has no function (its opposing partner has been removed), vertical cracks in the tooth. We have state-of-the-art equipment to minimise discomfort and maximise healing. The Smile Spot dentists are all experienced in extractions and will discuss your treatment in-depth.

At The Smile Spot fillings are made of a composite material (tooth coloured) or porcelain. Porcelain inlays are used to repair moderately damaged back teeth, are cemented into place and are contained within the ‘cusp’ tips of the tooth. Porcelain onlays are more extensive, covering the tooth, and are much stronger than any other type of filling.

Mouthguards are an essential part of the uniform for many sports these days, including football, hockey, and basketball. And it’s essential that they are properly fitted to prevent broken teeth and other facial injuries. Your Smile Spot dentist can fit and create your mouthguard, ensuring you’re ready to play as quickly as possible.

Stains on teeth can be classified in one of two ways: extrinsic or intrinsic. Extrinsic stains appear on the surface of your teeth. Intrinsic stains live between the microcracks in your enamel and deep within your dentin (the layer of your tooth underneath your enamel). Whitening toothpaste and mouth rinses may be able to remove some of the extrinsic stains on your teeth. But only teeth whitening agents can remove the stubborn extrinsic stains and the unsightly intrinsic stains that cause your teeth to look discoloured.
We use Opalescence Tooth Whitening gels at The Smile Spot. They contain an active whitening ingredient (either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide) that penetrates your enamel to get to discoloured molecules. Oxygen molecules from the whitening agents react with the discoloured molecules in your teeth, breaking the bonds that hold them together. The oxygen molecules spread, whitening the entire tooth. As a result, you are left with a brighter, whiter smile.

If the nerve of your tooth is damaged, your options include removing the tooth, or Root Canal Therapy. This involves cleaning out the nerve from a small space in the centre of the tooth, disinfecting it and sealing it up. This can effectively save or prolong the life of the tooth. At The Smile Spot, we use the latest in Laser technology and rotary endodontic equipment to ensure your tooth is treated as quickly and comfortably as possible. Enabling us to be one of the few practices to complete a Root Canal Treatment in one visit. It is recommended that a Crown is placed over the tooth to protect it after Root Canal Therapy is completed. Your Smile Spot dentist will clearly explain the procedure to you.

The ‘third molars’ or Wisdom Teeth, usually appear in our gums around the late teens/early 20s. In many cases, they cause no problems at all. In some cases, if the jaw does not have enough space for the tooth to emerge, the tooth will become wedged in or ‘impacted’. In this case, they may need to be extracted or removed. Removal of a wisdom tooth is a common procedure, and The Smile Spot dentists are experienced in this area. They will discuss your treatment needs with you and you may be referred to an oral surgeon.

The all on 4* is a technique which is used on people who have lost or need to lose all of their unhealthy natural teeth in either the upper and lower jaws or both. The sick/broken down natural teeth are removed, 4 implants are placed in the gums and permanent false teeth are permanently attached to the implants. This procedure can be completed in 1 day and they look and feel like natural teeth.
