504 Marrickville RdThe trip starts on Maianbar Road, then Bundeena Drive and Sir Bertram Stevens Drive take you out to Audley Road and Farnell Avenue. From the Princes Highway you continue through to Gannon Street and on to Marrickville Road. It’s 45.2 km in total, and about 74 minutes outside peak, so plan for it.
Public transport from a village on the edge of the Sutherland Shire involves changes, so driving is by far the simpler option. Street parking is on Marrickville Road and in MacArthur Parade beside the clinic, with timed bays in places.
Open until 8pmHonestly, for a quick clean you may prefer somewhere closer. Where the drive makes more sense is when you want one dentist to look after a bigger plan, or you’d like to keep seeing a clinic you already know. A full check-up and teeth clean can be booked for the same visit.
Saturdays run 9am to 3pm, which suits a weekend drive. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays you can book as late as 8pm.
Saturday family visitsWith a drive this length, it’s worth seeing the whole family in one go. Ask for back-to-back Saturday times and the children can have their check-ups, fluoride or sealants while you wait. Read about our children’s dentistry.
Between picnics at Bonnie Vale or the Maianbar Foreshore Reserves, plenty of kids play weekend sport, and contact games call for a proper guard. A made-to-fit mouthguard is shaped from an impression taken at the clinic.
Same-visit crownsThis is where the trip often pays off. Dental implants near Maianbar, including All-on-4, are planned and placed here, so you aren’t sent between different clinics. Crowns made in-house can often be fitted the same day, saving a second journey.
For cosmetic changes, there’s teeth whitening, bonding and veneers in composite, E-max or Zirkonzahn. An exam comes first so the costs and choices are clear.

For a sudden toothache, a closer clinic may be quicker to reach, and that’s fine. For ongoing care, Dr Dimitrios Thanos brings more than 25 years in practice. Meet the people you’ll see or read about The Smile Spot.
